For the safari you want to be at or near Sasan Gir. Morning drives start around sunrise, and you must report to the reception centre at Sinh Sadan well before that, so a bed within fifteen or twenty minutes of the village is worth more than a grander one an hour away. Fortunately there is plenty of choice: the countryside around Sasan is dotted with resorts and camps set among mango trees, from simple lodges to some of the most polished wildlife hotels in western India.
There is no accommodation for ordinary visitors inside the national park itself. Everything listed here lies outside the forest boundary, though several properties are close enough for lions to be heard at night.
We link to Trip.com for live prices and availability. We do not show nightly rates because they swing widely between the winter peak, festival weekends and the monsoon months when the Jungle Trail is closed.
